  Having stayed here for one night I can't really comment on the use of all the facilities. We paid £90 for a small double room (it should have been £169.99 but it was on offer) which included breakfast the next morning. Our room was spotlessly clean but seemed very basic and not at all luxurious.
  The staff couldn't be faulted- they were friendly and accommodating.
  The hotel is stunning on the outside and is located centrally so is ideal for exploring the town.
  I've given this rating however because I do feel that the room was overpriced for the quality of the decor (a hotel that looks like that on the outside begs a more luxurious interior) and I have got to say that the breakfast was appalling. Runny scrambled egg, burnt hash browns, cheap orange juice and both the bacon and black pudding did not taste very nice at all.
  Had we paid full price for the room, we would have complained.

  The rooms are past their sell by date and noise insulation is non existent.
  We booked on the premise that Dogs were allowed, however only in the room !. The rest of the hotel is out of bounds. So, you can't go to the bar, eat in the restaurant or have breakfast. Staff were of the "computer says no" school of hotel management. Not customer focused, internally hotel policy focused. We had to eat breakfast in a separate room (meeting room) despite the breakfast room being almost empty. You couldn't make it up!
  We stayed in a hotel two weeks ago that allows pets, (4 star) and they mean what they say. As, the dog was allowed in every area of the hotel.
  You really need to be taken to task about offering something that borders on mis-representation, or make it clear that dogs can stay, however only in the room.

  We stayed at The Abbey Hotel for a Masonic Ladies Festival weekend on 19/20 May. From the moment we arrived to a warm welcome and quick check-in, the stay was seamlessly efficient and pleasant. We were particularly impressed with the service level provided by hotel staff at all mealtimes, including the Gala dinner. The Gala dinner itself was supervised closely throughout by the Manager and table service was perfect, and served with a smile. Reception staff were unfailingly polite and helpful and the stay concluded with a quick check-out. We were very impressed how well the hotel was run during a busy weekend.
